It has been a busy last few days on Paris Saint-Germain’s online store, particularly on Thursday when Lionel Messi’s jersey sold out in just 30 minutes.
Supporters also queued for hours at the club’s official megastore all the way back from a local train station. Even with Messi choosing the number 30 jersey instead of taking Neymar’s 10 shirt number.
According to Hypebeast, around 832,000 units were sold with PSG earning €90 million, just on the first day of the shirt’s release. In comparison, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus jersey sold 520,000 copies when he moved to Juventus in 2018.
Messi will be paid an annual salary of $41 million at PSG.
But in the first 24 hours of his arrival, the club has already sold 832,000 jerseys, bringing in ~$105 million in revenue.
The club keeps around 10%, so that’s $10.5 million in profit on the first day.
