LeBron James sets a new NBA record for most points scored in both the regular season and the playoffs

On Saturday, against the Warriors, James set the NBA’s all-time record for regular-season and postseason points.

On the left wing, the bucket came in the third quarter. James scored 21 points in the game with a three-pointer.

James was 19 points shy of eclipsing Kareem Abdul-44,149 Jabbar’s career points entering the game. In terms of the NBA’s official all-time scoring list, which only takes into consideration regular season points, Abdul-Jabbar still holds the upper hand over James and the rest of the league. Behind the former Laker great and Karl Malone, James ranks third all-time in regular season scoring.

James, 37, has the most playoff points of any player and will almost certainly overtake Malone for the No. 2 place this season. By the end of his Hall of Fame career, James might be the one to formally dethrone Abdul-Jabbar.
