The Los Angeles Lakers became the first defending NBA champions to lose a first round series in the play-offs since the San Antonio Spurs in 2015, bowing out to the Phoenix Suns.
LeBron James and his teammates lost 113-100 on Thursday night at the Staples Center. Despite his 29-point tally, James couldn’t keep themselves in the series as it’s also the first time four-time MVP has been eliminated at this stage of the post-season.
It was the Phoenix Suns who stole the show in LA with a convincing 4-2 series win, point guard Devin Booker scored 47 points on the night. The Suns now face the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference semi-finals.
