Kit Harrington admits Game of Thrones fame took a toll on his mental health

Kit Harrington has admitted that he was suffering from mental health issues due to his fame as a lead in popular TV series, Game of Thrones.

The British actor, who played Jon Snow in GOT, spoke on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show, addressing the problems he endured in his personal life while discussing how the “nature” of the production affected him.

“I went through some mental health difficulties after Thrones, and during the end of Thrones, to be honest,” Harington told Cagle, per The Hollywood Reporter, quoted by Complex. “I think it was directly due to the nature of the show and what I had been doing for years.”

Harrington revealed that by taking a short break from work after the conclusion of the eight-season show in 2019, he was “really happy” and able to “really concentrate” on himself.

When talking about his upcoming and latest projects since GOT, Harrington said “You don’t have to live in that intense place all the time,”

“Why don’t you do something that takes the weight off? Why don’t you do something fun?”
