Kendrick Lamar’s Custom Glastonbury Fest Crown of Thorns Took 10 Months to Design and Features 8,000 Diamonds

Kendrick Lamar wore a handmade titanium and pavé diamond crown from Tiffany & Co. for the performance, which featured a powerful statement in support of women’s rights.

Ten months of design work went into the creation of the item, and Tiffany has now verified that four of its most talented workers contributed to the finished piece. In a statement released on Monday, Tiffany’s executive vice president of product and communication, Alexandre Arnault, said the team was “proud and incredibly excited” to have been chosen to assist in realizing this goal.

“Kendrick Lamar represents the artistry, risk-taking creativity, and relentless innovation that has also defined Tiffany & Co. for nearly two centuries,” Arnault said of the custom piece, which ultimately became the focal point of 1,300 hours of diamond-setting work.

According to a press statement, 14 separate components were combined into a single final piece to cast the titanium design of the crown, which weighs around 200 grams. The unique design, which has 50 thorns in all in various forms, was made using more than 8,000 diamonds.
