The world has a new Kendrick Lamar song. “The Heart Part 5” is the title. It’s the rapper’s first new song as a lead artist since 2018, and it comes ahead of his long-awaited Damn. follow-up Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. The rapper’s visage changes into multiple deepfakes in the video, directed by Dave Free and Lamar, including OJ Simpson, Will Smith, Jussie Smollett, Kobe Bryant, Kanye West, and Nipsey Hussle. When he’s West, the songs talk about bipolar disorder, and when he’s the late Hussle, the lyrics talk about murder. It begins with the following Oklama quote: “I am. “All of us.” Check it out below.
Beach Noise, a production and songwriting trio consisting of Matt Schaeffer, Johnny Kosich, and Jake Kosich, produced the song. Beach Noise’s other production credits include many Baby Keem tunes. Kyle Miller and Bekon provide instrumental contributions to “Part 5”. It looks to be a sample of Marvin Gaye’s “I Want You.”
Deep Voodoo, the company headed by South Park founders Trey Parker and Matt Stone, was credited with the deepfake work in the video’s credits. Stone and Parker are also mentioned as “special thanks.” Lamar was rumored to be producing a new live action comedy with the pair earlier this year.
