Kendrick Lamar declares Baby Keem to be a “musical genius”

Baby Keem has been called a “musical genius” by Kendrick Lamar. The remark was sent on Twitter by the Pulitzer Prize–winning rapper on Saturday as he and Keem were traveling for The Big Steppers World Tour.

The first artist to collaborate with pgLang, a media firm founded by K. Dot and Dave Free in 2020, was Keem, who is also Kendrick’s cousin. In addition to “Savior” from Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, “Family Ties” and “Range Brothers” from Keem’s The Melodic Blue project, the 21-year-old rapper has collaborated with Kendrick on a number of songs.

In a 2021 interview with Nadeska Alexis, Keem discussed Kendrick and said that their friendship extended “beyond music.”

“Whenever I need anything regarding, like, life, and if I need some wisdom, then that’s who I go to, you know?” he explained. “That’s one of the first people I look towards, him and Dave Free.”
