Keenan Cahill, a YouTube lip sync sensation who skyrocketed to stardom in the early 2010s, has died at the age of 27.
Cahill underwent open heart surgery earlier this month, claims TMZ. Keenan was put on life support after a string of difficulties. After being removed from life support on Thursday afternoon in a hospital in Chicago, he passed away.
Although Cahill’s cause of death is now unknown, a hereditary disease called Martoeaux-Lamy syndrome was discovered to be present in the popular social media user. His illness, which was discovered while he was a newborn, results in the enlargement, scarring, or inflammation of organs and tissues.
On Dec. 15, Cahill took to Instagram to tell his followers he was having surgery. “For those who are asking: December 15 is the date of the surgery,” he wrote.
With the help of lip-syncing videos of popular songs by artists like Katy Perry, 50 Cent, Justin Bieber, and Ariana Grande, among others, Cahill amassed a sizable fan base on YouTube in the first half of last decade. His channel had more than 500 million views. The YouTube personality also collaborated on viral projects with the aforementioned stars.
