Kanye West’s Antisemitic Comments Put Pressure on Adidas

Following the musician’s repeated anti-Semitic remarks, numerous companies and organizations are cutting connections with Kanye West, yet one of his closest collaborators, Adidas, has remained mute throughout the scandal. Now, a brand director is applying pressure to the business through a public LinkedIn post.

This evening, Adidas Director of Trade Marketing Sarah Camhi wrote on her account that the company needs to be more considerate of its workers and the community. Jewish Camhi claims that Adidas recently promoted a “global week of inclusion” amid Ye’s offensive remarks. Adidas, according to her article, has not only kept quiet about the situation in the media but also among its staff members.

Adidas, according to Camhi, has fired athletes for much less serious offenses like the usage of performance-enhancing drugs and being viewed as difficult to work with, but has not addressed Ye’s hate speech.

“We need to do better as a brand,” Camhi writes. “We need to do better for our employees and we need to do better for our communities. Until Adidas takes a stand, I will not stand with Adidas.”

Following a series of posts criticizing the company and its supervisory board, Adidas declared on October 6 that its collaboration with Ye was being reviewed. Days later, Ye tweeted that he would “go DEATH CON 3 on Jewish people,” signaling the start of his spiral into anti-Semitic discourse.
