Kanye West Starts Work on His First Sequel Album, “Donda 2”

Ye has already started working on the follow-up to his tenth studio album, Donda, which he released last year.

“Ye has started working on his new masterpiece DONDA 2,” Steven Victor exclusively told Complex.

It will be the first time the musician formerly known as Kanye West has issued a sequel to one of his albums if he keeps with the title. In September, Donda received gold certification.

Victor, a key industry player who previously held the positions of COO at G.O.O.D. Music and SVP of A&R at Universal Music Group, has worked extensively with Ye.

There’s no word on when Donda 2 will be announced, but the Victor Victor Worldwide founder’s use of the word “masterpiece” suggests it’ll be well worth the wait. Fans will also be interested to see if Ye reunites with Drake on wax following the squashing of their rivalry and the legends’ subsequent Free Larry Hoover performance together, as seen by a video that leaked online just last week.

Donda was launched on August 29, 2021, however there were numerous high-profile delays in its release. In July and August, he had three public listening sessions for the album, but it failed to materialize after each one until it was released on streaming sites at the end of the month.
