Kanye West says that his new album Donda 2 will not be streamed and will only be available through his Stem Player

Kanye West’s new album, Donda 2, will be released on February 22nd, with a “Donda Experience Performance” scheduled for the same day at LoanDepot Park in Miami. Kanye revealed new music playing on the Stem Player, which he released in collaboration with Donda last year, in an Instagram post. He also stated that it will be the only option for fans to hear the new album.

“Donda 2 will only be available on my own platform, the Stem Player,” he wrote. “Not on Apple Amazon Spotify or YouTube. Today artists get just 12% of the money the industry makes. It’s time to free music from this oppressive system. It’s time to take control and build our own.” An order page for the Stem Player is currently live; it currently costs $200.

The new album is expected to drop soon, and Ye has been airing his concerns with other musicians Kid Cudi and Billie Eilish on Instagram. Many of his remarks were about his displeasure with Kim Kardashian West’s rumored lover Pete Davidson.

Kanye has a long history of defying streaming platforms and traditional album release techniques in the public eye. Three of his Donda live events were streamed live on Apple Music, including the last one in Chicago with Marilyn Manson. He stated on Instagram that the label had published the album without his authorization when it eventually became available for streaming.
