Kanye West files documents in hopes to legally change his name to Ye

Kanye West has filed documents in Los Angeles with plans on formally changing his name to Ye, according to TMZ.

It’s not the first time that Kanye has been rumoured to have wanted to change his name. Back in 2019, he was thinking about temporarily adopting the name “Christian Billionaire Genius Kanye West” so that people “understand exactly what it is,” as reported by Complex.

West also tweeted in 2018, the same year that he released his album “Ye” of his fondness for the name.

“I believe ‘ye’ is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means ‘you,’ Kanye told Big Boy via Complex.

“So I’m you, I’m us, it’s us. It went from Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye. Just being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, everything. The album is more of a reflection of who we are.”

The proposed name change comes in the build-up to the 44-year-old latest listening party event in Chicago’s Soldier Field this Thursday for his upcoming album, “Donda”.
