Juventus found themselves in hot water on Thursday night after the club’s women’s official Twitter account posted a racist tweet.
The account, which has 111.4k followers posted a photograph of one of their players making a racist gesture, deleted the tweet around 30 minutes after it was shared.
A screenshot of the tweet, provided by Complex, saw a Juve player pulling the edges of her eyes back with a cone on her head – portraying an incredibly offensive Asian stereotype, the team replicated this with emojis in the copy.
Argh, that’s racist… #JuventusWomen pic.twitter.com/ZPPcgtjY0L

Although Juve apologised after the tweet was deleted, it’s concerning that the tweet was posted, let alone the player’s harmful pose and the club photographer who took the picture.
We sincerely apologise that our tweet, which was not meant to cause controversy or have any racial undertones, may have offended anyone. Juventus has always been against racism and discrimination. #DifferencesMakeTheDifference
