A qualifying match between Jordan and Iran for the 2022 Women’s Asia Cup has been overshadowed by the former accusing the latter of fielding a male player.
Iran won the game 4-2, with goalie Zohreh Koudaei facing criminal charges.
Iran’s shot-stopper Koudaei stopped two penalties, ensuring Iran’s qualifying for the Asia Cup.
As a result, Jordan’s Football Association head, Prince Ali bin Hussein, has claimed that Koudaei is a man disguised as a woman.
The former FIFA presidential candidate’s bold assertion was followed up by a tweet to the Asian Football Confederation, in which he called the issue “very serious if true” and demanded that the federation “wake up.”
Now, Prince Ali wants a full investigation of the Iranian side’s actions.
No relevance to previous tweets but it’s a very serious issue if true. Please wake up @theafcdotcom pic.twitter.com/egk678CXCX
