Johnny Depp appeals Amber Heard’s $2 million trial win

On Wednesday, Johnny Depp appealed the court’s decision in their lawsuit, which sided with ex-wife Amber Heard on a single count of defamation.

According to People, Depp is seeking the court to reverse her countersuit victory, which she received $2 million for compared to the $15 million he received, because he feels he shouldn’t be held responsible for an assertion made by his lawyer Adam Waldman. Waldman claimed that Heard and her associates set up Depp with abuse charges in 2016 in a story that was published in The Daily Mail in April.

“So Amber and her friends spilled a little wine and roughed the place up, got their stories straight under the direction of a lawyer and publicist, and then placed a second call to 911,” Waldman said, according to TMZ.

The actor claims Heard’s legal team failed to offer any proof linking him to Waldman’s comments, despite the fact that the jury found that Waldman was speaking on behalf of Depp and awarded Heard $2 million as a result. Depp further states that he claimed in his testimony that he was not aware of such remarks before she filed her countersuit.
