Manchester City attacker Jack Grealish is close to signing a lucrative endorsement deal with Gucci, according to reports.
When he joined Manchester City for £100 million from Aston Villa last year, he became the most expensive British footballer of all time, and his fame skyrocketed. Earlier in the summer, he also assisted England in reaching the European Championship final.
It has led to a slew of new business opportunities, with the 26-year-old mostly eschewing team rivalries during the tournament to establish himself as a memorable figure.
Grealish has been spotted wearing Gucci products on several occasions, however these are normally purchased or given to such people. Instead, as part of the deal, he’ll become an official ambassador for the luxury Italian brand, which is considered to be a first for a sportsperson.
Grealish’s contract is said to be for seven figures, and given that Gucci usually partners with celebrities from the entertainment and music sectors to promote its brand and products, partnering with the Birmingham-born athlete hints at his worldwide appeal.
Although it was not a priority, City were well aware of Grealish’s commercial potential when they paid a record sum to lure him to the Etihad Stadium.
