When Jack Grealish scored England’s first World Cup goal against Iran in Qatar, he remembered a promise he made to a child fan with cerebral palsy. Grealish met Finlay, a Manchester City fan, this year after the fan, who also has cerebral palsy, was moved by Grealish’s mention of his younger sister Hollie, wrote to the City star.

Grealish kept his promise to the 11-year-old to perform the unique celebration dance after scoring the next time. The midfielder entered the game as a substitute and scored England’s sixth goal in their 6-2 victory over Iran on Monday.

Having negotiated the celebration, Finlay’s hero also gave him a signed City shirt. The young child had initially asked Grealish to perform the worm, a hip-hop motion, but they ultimately decided on a dance with waving arms because it required a bit less physical effort and had a lower risk of damage.

Grealish’s Instagram account has frequently featured Hollie, most notably in August of this year when she celebrated her 19th birthday. Grealish had shown his love for her in a video.
