Jack Black Returning As Po For Netflix’s ‘Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight’ Animated Series

Nearly six years after Kung Fu Panda 3, Jack Black will reprise his role as Po the panda in Netflix’s Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight.

Netflix announced on Wednesday that the animated series Kung Fu Panda from DreamWorks Animation would be added to the Kung Fu Panda universe. Po (Black) is forced to leave his home when a mysterious pair of weasels sets their eyes on a collection of four strong weapons, forcing him to go on a globe-trotting journey for forgiveness and justice, which finds him teamed with a no-nonsense English knight dubbed Wandering Blade. Together, these two mismatched warriors go on an epic quest to discover the magical weapons first and save the world from annihilation — and they might even learn a thing or two along the way.

Executive producers Peter Hastings and Shaunt Nigoghossian are behind Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight. Chris Amick and Ben Mekler are co-executive producers.

Black, whose recent credits include Jumanji: The Next Level and Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Adventure, initially played Po in the 2008 Kung Fu Panda film. He later repeated the role in Kung Fu Panda 2 and Kung Fu Panda 3 in 2011 and 2016, respectively. Following Nickelodeon’s Legends of Awesomeness and Prime Video’s The Paws of Destiny, the Netflix series is the third animated feature in the Kung Fu Panda franchise.
