Ivan Toney of Brentford has been charged by the Football Association with an additional 30 alleged violations of betting rules.
He was accused with 232 suspected betting law violations last month.
The 26-year-old Toney has 10 Premier League goals this season but was not selected for the England World Cup team.
Brentford previously said: “The club has been in discussion with Ivan and his legal representatives. Those conversations will continue privately.”
The club’s statement continued: “We will make no further comment until the matter has been completed.”
Toney has until Wednesday, January 4 to reply to the fresh FA misconduct allegations regarding alleged violations of FA rule E8, which forbids players from communicating confidential information for the purpose of betting or placing bets on games.
If they are confirmed, he might be subject to a protracted suspension. In December 2020, England defender Kieran Trippier received a 10-week suspension from the FA for providing information to enable others to wager on his transfer from Tottenham to Atletico Madrid.
Joey Barton, a Burnley player at the time, was given an 18-month suspension in 2017 that was later reduced to 13 months after an appeal. He had admitted to putting 1,260 bets on football over a ten-year span.
Toney said earlier this month, after the allegations were first reported, that he was “assisting the Football Association with their enquiries”.
