Instagram is providing more control for its users on the social media platform with the option to hide likes on your photos and videos.
Stating in a blog post on Wednesday, those on Instagram and Facebook can now hide public like counts on their updates.
Instagram is quoted by Hypebeast saying, “We tested hiding like counts to see if it might depressurize people’s experience on Instagram.
“What we heard from people and experts was that not seeing like counts was beneficial for some, and annoying to others, particularly because people use like counts to get a sense for what’s trending or popular, so we’re giving you the choice.”
Users will be able to “focus on the photos and videos being shared, instead of how many likes posts get.” This feature can be used in the Posts section in Instagram’s setting tab.
The company implemented a new tool to support users in blocking out offensive DMs. Facebook users will also be able to tweak who can comment on their posts.
