It seems surprising that Instagram is developing a feature that would let you add music to profile pages. This particular function was just discovered by respected app reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi after going over the platform’s most recent development codes, like with most of his findings.
According to Paluzzi’s screenshots, users will have access to Instagram’s Edit Profile section where they may add music. When you tap on the new Music section here, a page with that section’s content will open up where you can choose a song and write a description that, presumably, will act like a status update on your profile. Users can only use up to 40 characters to, as stated on this screen, “express their mood.”
It appears that Paluzzi was unable to test the new feature because it is still under development. However, it remains unknown how this new power is supposed to function. If we had to guess, Instagram might offer built-in tracks to users, permit users to upload their own music, or give users the ability to choose and link songs from a streaming service.
Uploading tracks might not be advisable because it might result in copyright violation, unless the users themselves created the songs. On the other hand, linking a music from a streaming service will need Instagram working with service providers like Spotify, Deezer, and others. The first and last hypotheses seem to be the most likely options out of the three outlined above.
