With a limited group of users, Instagram is now testing a paid subscription feature for creators and influencers. Instagram says that additional creators will be added to the list in the coming weeks, and the function enables access to unique material that has been made available to certain creators in the US.
Fans and followers of the creators and influencers they follow pay a monthly fee to have access to exclusive subscriber-only material from the artists and influencers they follow. Only paying users will get access to this content, which includes exclusive Lives and Stories.
Subscribers will also receive a purple badge next to their name, indicating their unique status to the creator.
This subscription model will include price tiers ranging from $0.99 to $99.99 per month, and artists will be able to choose the price point for their subscriptions.
Instagram will not take a portion of artists’ subscription profits until at least 2023, according to Instagram’s Co-head of Product.
Only ten creators are now participating in the platform’s early test, which includes Olympian Jordan Chiles, basketball star Sedona Prince, and astrologer Aliza Kelly.
