In Man City’s match against Wolves, Raul Jimenez receives an unusual red card

Raul Jimenez of Wolverhampton Wolves was sent off after receiving two yellow cards in a matter of seconds against Manchester City on Saturday, in one of the oddest red cards ever seen in a Premier League match.

In first-half stoppage time, the Mexican attacker was cautioned for fouling City midfielder Rodri in the centre circle, before preventing the Spain international from taking the following free-kick.

Referee Jon Moss had no choice but to book Jimenez once more for impeding the restart of play, and the midfielder went off the field slowly as the City fans booed him.

The incident occurred at the end of a frantic period of play at the Etihad Stadium, during which Ruben Dias and Rodri were both booked in the minutes preceding Jimenez’s reaction. Following that, Wolves’ Ruben Neves earned a booking. Jimenez was plainly displeased with the referee’s decision to issue a yellow card, and he was on his way down the tunnel in just 48 seconds.

Wolves had kept Pep Guardiola’s league leaders at bay as the game went into halftime goalless, but with only 10 men on the pitch, they now face an uphill job to keep them out for the second half.
