Kim Kardashian has made it obvious that, while her marriage to Kanye West did not work out, she is grateful for all he has brought into her life, particularly all of the amazing design.
The reality star received The Fashion Icon Award at the 2021 People’s Choice Awards on Tuesday night for her influence and achievements to the industry. Kardashian donned an unique Balenciaga black velvet catsuit with attached gloves and boots, large, dazzling earrings, and Balenciaga Haute Couture Fall 2021 sunglasses to the event. “To get the award from the fashion legend herself, I am so honored,” Tracee Ellis Ross, the Skims creator, said as she took the award from last year’s winner. “Thank you.”
She continued, “I’m humbled every single day that designers are willing to work with me. There was a time when they weren’t. Thank you Zac Posen, who dressed me and took me to my first CFDA Awards, and so many amazing designers like Riccardo [Tisci] and Olivier [Rousteing] that really believed in me. Well, [they] probably [were] talked into it by getting a call from Kanye.” Kardashian then addressed her estranged husband directly, adding, “To Kanye for really introducing me to the fashion world. I fell in love with fashion, and I’m so inspired by so many people. But again, this is like a dream that I get to wake up and wear these amazing clothes and try new things and take a risk. I’m so humbled.”
