A new teaser for The Idol, which will now air on HBO the following year, was released on Thursday.

Watch the most recent trailer for the brand-new drama, which also stars Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd, below. The series was created by Abel, Reza Fahim, and Euphoria creator Sam Levinson and centers on a modern cult leader’s connection with a pop star.

Back in April, it was reported by Deadline that Idol was taking a “new creative direction,” and that the show’s previously announced director Amy Seimetz had left the production.

Idol’s series order was first announced by Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of programming at HBO, who referred to the project’s first pitch as “unlikely anything HBO had ever done before.”

A24, whose 2022 has also featured major critical and commercial triumphs including Everything Everywhere All At Once and X, has joined the production firm roster behind the eagerly awaited project. Troye Sivan, Rachel Sennott (last seen in A24’s Bodies Bodies Bodies), Hari Nef, Suzanna Son, Moses Sumney, and more actors join Abel and Lily-Rose in the extended cast.
