HBO Max Crashes Ahead of ‘Euphoria’ Season 2 Finale

Variety says that only minutes before the Euphoria Season 2 finale, HBO Max began getting reports of viewers having problems accessing the app.

The problem began to increase about 8:55 p.m. ET, according to DownDetector, with error messages stating “Can’t Connect. We’re having issues connecting to HBO Max right now. Please try again.” The warning “Something Went Wrong” was shown on connected TV sets. Sorry for the inconvenience, but we’re having problems interacting with the service. Please exit the app and retry.”

According to DownDetector, the problem peaked at 9:05 p.m. ET, when over 52,000 complaints were received. By 9:20 p.m., the number had dropped to under 4,000.

“We’ve seen the tweets from some of our users who had trouble accessing HBO Max around 9pm ET and are engaging directly to help get them back into the platform,” a WarnerMedia spokesperson said in a statement. “This short interruption has since been resolved.”

In its second season, the Zendaya-led Euphoria has become a huge hit. Following the Season 2 debut, which garnered 13.1 million people on HBO and HBO Max, the next two episodes received 6.6 million viewers on average, representing a roughly 100 percent increase over last season’s ratings.
