HBO Drops Official Trailer for “The Idol” Starring The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp

The Weeknd and HBO have released a trailer for “The Idol,” the network’s new dramatic series that stars Lily-Rose Depp and the singer.

Sam Levinson, who also created the network’s popular series “Euphoria,” and Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, the series’ co-creators, are introduced in the opening of the clip as having “sick and twisted minds.” The frenzied sequence of Hollywood mansions, outrageous parties, cocaine consumption, and fast vehicles follows.

“The Idol,” which was co-created by Tesfaye, Levinson, and Reza Fahim, is set in the context of the music industry. The story chronicles the delicate relationship that a self-help guru and modern cult leader have with a rising music star.
