Turkey midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu is set to make the bold move of leaving AC Milan for rivals Inter on a free transfer.
That’s according to Sky in Italy, who report that Calhanoglu has accepted better terms to join Inter than what Milan had offered as the 27-year-old will join the Serie A champions on a three-year deal worth £4.3 million [€5 million] plus bonuses.
Calhanoglu will be returning to the Italian city on Monday after Turkey’s shock Euro 2020 exit where they failed to pick up a single point in a group consisting of Italy, Wales and Switzerland.
The former Bayer Leverkusen man had also gained interest from numerous clubs around Europe including Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus.
Calhanoglu, known mainly for his sensational set-piece ability, scored four goals and made ten assists for AC Milan this season, helping the club return to the Champions League with a second-place finish in Serie A.
