God of War TV series reportedly in the works with Amazon

A God of War live-action series might be the next addition to Amazon Prime Video’s video game TV series portfolio.

Prime Video is in negotiations with PlayStation to adapt God of War into a live-action TV series, according to Deadline. Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, creators and executive producers of The Expanse, as well as Rafe Judkins, producer of The Wheel of Time, are all interested in participating in the adaptation.

If all goes according to plan, God of War will join The Last of Us and Twisted Metal as the next PlayStation exclusives to get a live-action TV adaptation. Not to mention Uncharted and the impending Ghost of Tsushima movie, which are both blockbuster titles adapted for the big screen.

The Last of Us, on the other hand, is slated to air on HBO, while Twisted Metal is planned to air on Peacock.

However, Amazon’s video game adaptations will not be limited to God of War. Amazon Studios is reportedly creating a Fallout TV series starring Walton Goggins from the creators of Westworld, as well as a Mass Effect TV series for Prime Video.

God of War is a long-running PlayStation exclusive, but the series will most likely try to capitalize on the success of Sony Santa Monica Studios’ most recent incarnation. Kratos, an ex-Spartan who fights the Greek gods, stars in the series. Kratos began a new life in Scandanavia after the conclusion of the first trilogy, where he confronts a new set of Norse gods and the problems that come with them.
