According to The Hollywood Reporter, a Game of Thrones spin-off centered on Kit Harington’s fan-favorite character Jon Snow is in the works. The spin-off is characterized as a sequel series, and Harington is expected to reprise his part if the project moves further.
A Jon Snow spin-off set after the events of Game of Thrones’ disputed eighth and final season would be an intriguing move for HBO, reopening the door on the main series’ much-discussed closing events. Snow was exiled from Westeros to the Night’s Watch in the series finale, and he was last seen travelling North of the Wall with the Wildlings.
This potential Jon Snow series isn’t the only Game of Thrones spin-off in the works; in fact, it’d be HBO’s eighth Game of Thrones project in the works (not counting the prequel series House of the Dragon, which is in post-production and due to launch on August 21, 2022). George R.R. Martin, the creator of Game of Thrones, recently updated fans on a number of the planned live action and animated shows set in the GoT universe, cautioning that not all of them will air, but expressing his hope that many would.
