Donda 2 has been announced by Kanye West on Instagram. According to the post, Future will executive produce the upcoming album, which will be released on February 22.
West and Future recently played together in California at Rolling Loud. In 2014, the rappers collaborated on the song “I Won” by Honest.
Steven Victor, the former chief operating office of West’s G.O.O.D. Music as well as the former executive vice president and head of A&R at Def Jam Recordings had suggested Donda 2. “Ye has begun working on his next masterpiece Donda 2,” Victor told Complex. “Listen, [Donda 2] is arriving sooner than you think,” he said in a subsequent interview with Complex. The procession has begun and will not be stopped.”
The follow-up to West’s last album, Donda, which was released in August, will be called Donda 2. West has been busy recently, co-headlining the Amazon-sponsored Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert with Drake, releasing a song with the Game, and being named a Coachella headliner. In addition, the first installment of the Jeen-Yuhs documentary about his life was released, and he’s been a regular in the headlines thanks to his current relationship with actress Julia Fox.
