First Look at Leslie Grace’s Costume in the ‘Batgirl’ Movie

Leslie Grace has shown the first image of the superhero costume she will wear as Barbara Gordon in HBO Max’s Batgirl. The stunning image came as main filming in Scotland continues in preparation for a late 2022 streaming service debut.

Grace wears a purple and yellow superhero outfit in the Instagram image, which also includes a phrase from “Batgirl: Year One” that is both inspiring and just fantastic. From the sleek cowl to the majestic yellow cape, the outfit is similar to the one worn by the character in the New 52 DC Comics reboot’s 2014 comic book. It’s a design she utilized in her early days as a crime fighter, and it appears the film will be using it. Furthermore, while it’s very conceivable that this isn’t the final outfit she’ll wear in the film, it’s still exciting to see the producers not be hesitant to take direct inspiration from the source material.

Despite the fact that storyline information for the film are scant, Michael Keaton is likely to appear as Batman, maybe as a mentor to Grace’s Barbara Gordon. He makes his first appearance in the role later this year in The Flash as a supporting character against Ezra Miller, indicating that Keaton will remain the lead Caped Crusader in the DCEU. Aside from the multiverse antics, it’ll be nice to see Grace play the fan-favorite Batgirl alongside a familiar face. That being said, it is Barbara’s moment to shine, and it’s thrilling to see the film begin with the adored character.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah of Bad Boys for Life direct the film, which is based on a scenario by Christina Hodson of Birds of Prey. Brendan Fraser, who plays the adversary Firefly, and J.K. Simmons, who plays Commissioner Gordon, round out the supporting cast. Meanwhile, Jacob Scipio, Rebecca Front, Corey Johnson, and Ethan Kai are cast in unspecified parts in the film.
