Fans Call For Gianluigi Buffon To Retire After Absolute Mistake For Parma

Fans mocked Gianluigi Buffon on social media, pleading with him to retire, after the legendary goalie made one of his worst mistakes of his career during Parma’s Serie B match against Perugia on Monday evening.

In the seventh minute of the game, the 44-year-old Italian attempted to throw Jayden Oosterwolde’s back-pass to Enrico Del Prato but completely missed the ball, kicking thin air.

Marco Olivieri of Perugia was quick to respond to Buffon’s blunder and raced down the loose ball, putting it into the net before Buffon could return to his goal line.

Buffon and his Parma teammates had a night to remember. When the goalkeeper’s terrible gaffe occurred, the Italian team was already down 1-0.

Fans were quick to take to social media to share their opinion on Buffon’s error. One Twitter user wrote: ‘Hate seeing Buffon like this. At this point just pack it in and retire’.

Another added: ‘Buffon started his professional career around the same time I started primary school, I think it’s time to hang up them boots.’

Someone else said: ‘Sometimes, you need someone to tell you that it’s time to call it a day. Even if your name is Gigi Buffon.’
