On Thursday evening, during the second half of Everton’s match against Newcastle United, a protestor entered the pitch and disrupted the game.
The individual in question had ziptied himself to one of the goal posts and had to be cut loose with bolt cutters by security.
It was genuinely incredible scenes at Goodison Park, and something that never happened in a Premier League match before.
The game was delayed for around eight minutes, and when the protestor – who was wearing an orange shirt with the words ‘Just Stop Oil’ on it – was finally cut free, it took several people to pull him off the pitch.
A chorus of boos erupted from the audience when they did so after he decided to lie down on the goal line.
This evening, Louis, a 21 year-old supporter of Just Stop Oil, locked on to the goalpost at Goodison Park wearing a Just Stop Oil t-shirt, causing the referee to briefly stop play.
When explaining why he has chosen this action, Louis said: pic.twitter.com/XqjaYFIDyz
