Elon Musk Tweets He’s Buying Manchester United

On Wednesday, Elon Musk – who is reported to have a net worth of $270bn according to Forbes – posted on Twitter: “Also, I’m buying Manchester United ur welcome.”

The American’s post received more than 400,000 likes, causing social media chaos.

For United, the beginning of the new season has been tough.

After two losses, they are in last place in the Premier League, top player Cristiano Ronaldo may depart, and fresh additions aren’t working out.

After a “humiliatingly bad” start to the season, its fans are restless, and earlier this week the Manchester United Supporters Trust stated it will “demand answers” from those in charge of the team.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down as manager in 2013, the club has been in decline, and the Glazer family, who have controlled it since 2005, has come under fire.

Numerous demonstrations against the Glazers’ ownership have taken place recently, notably one in May 2021 that resulted in the postponement of Manchester United’s game versus Liverpool.

During Monday’s matchup with their bitter rivals, United supporters will stage a new protest against the American family.
