Elon Musk says he will resign as Twitter CEO once he finds a replacement

Simply over 48 hours after tweeting a poll that might have indicated Musk will no longer serve as CEO, he updated his post—or maybe he was just playing again.

“I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software & servers teams,” Musk wrote.

The poll, which has now been closed, received participation from more than 17 million Twitter users. As can be seen from the results below, more than 57 percent of those who participated in the poll thought Musk should resign, while just about 43 percent disagreed.

Musk appeared to make reference to the subject in a number of subsequent tweets, including one warning to be “careful what you wish” and another about people who “least deserve it” seeking power.

Musk did state that he would “abide by” the poll’s results when he first shared it. The survey naturally comes after a number of highly criticized changes made to the platform during its Musk era.
