Dwayne Johnson’s DC Hero, Black Adam, Gets a Teaser Trailer

The teaser trailer for Black Adam has been revealed. Dwayne Johnson was set to play Black Adam in the first Shazam picture, but it was determined early on in the creative process that the two characters would star in their separate films. While Zachary Levi and Asher Angel made their film debuts in Shazam! in 2019, Johnson’s Black Adam won’t be released until July 2022. Jaume Collet-Serra, who worked with Johnson on Disney’s summer blockbuster Jungle Cruise, is directing the feature.

The Black Adam teaser trailer was presented at DC FanDome 2021; see it in the video below. There are a lot of hints in this trailer, even if it isn’t a typical teaser trailer. The video begins with some behind-the-scenes footage, showing brief glimpses of the JSA’s costumes, including Cyclone, Hawkman, and Atom Smasher logos. The second half of the video features a scene from Black Adam’s opening scene, in which Shahi’s Adrianna Tomaz discovers Johnson’s character and “wakes” him up.
