During a show in Detroit, Jack White marries his girlfriend Olivia Jean on stage

Jack White of the White Stripes surprised fans on Friday night by proposing to then marrying his girlfriend on stage during a show.

White introduced Olivia Jean, a songwriter and producer, as his girlfriend and brought her on stage to perform alongside him.

During his song Hotel Yorba, the 46-year-old then proposed to Jean right before singing the phrase “let’s get married.”

Jean, a fellow Detroit native, allegedly broke into tears and said yes, according to local press.

White then took her off the stage, only to return later for an encore and a live wedding, conducted by Ben Swank, White’s record label’s founder.

While members of their families looked on, the bass players functioned as best man and maid of honor.

White’s performance was part of his latest solo tour, Supply Chain Issues, which he launched after the White Stripes disbanded in 2011, and it was a kind of a homecoming for him in the city, since it was his first in the city since 2018.

Between 1996 and 2000, White was married to his White Stripes bandmate Meg White, and between 2005 and 2013, he was married to British model Karen Elson.
