Due to Covid-19 isolation, Jürgen Klopp will miss Liverpool’s match against Chelsea

After a suspected positive test result for Covid-19, Jürgen Klopp will miss Liverpool’s Premier League match against Chelsea on Sunday.

After claiming “minimal symptoms” in the build-up to Sunday’s match, Liverpool revealed that their boss is now isolated.

In his pre-match press conference on Friday, Klopp stated that Liverpool have three new Covid cases inside the playing team, all of which are presently anonymous. “We never had this proper outbreak where 15 to 20 players had it [Covid],” he said. “For us it is every day, another one, stuff happens more and more often. It’s like a lottery waiting for the results.”

The team will be coached by assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders for the 4.30pm kick-off at Stamford Bridge. In addition to the three positive instances verified by Klopp on Friday, testing of the full first-team set-up found no new positive cases inside the playing group, but three backroom staff members have returned suspected positive readings.
