Drake Named Shazam’s All-Time Most Searched Artist

Shazam released a full list of notable events from its 20-year history to commemorate the occasion, including the first music to be Shazammed, the most Shazamed song by genre, and more. Drake has received over 350 million Shazams across tracks he has either been on or featured in, making him the artist with the most Shazams of all time, according to Shazam. With more than 17 million Shazams, “One Dance” is his most well-liked song.

The Toronto rapper Drake already celebrated the day last week when he “officially got more slaps than The Beatles.” The song “Staying Alive,” which he collaborated on with DJ Khaled, became his 30th to make the Billboard Hot 100’s top five, breaking the previous record of The Beatles, which had stood for 55 years. The Toronto native uploaded a picture of an empty dish with the caption “Just another celebration” along with a shrug emoji to his Stories.

Drake also recently appeared on Nicki Minaj’s Queen Radio, where he discussed the possibility of retiring from music. “I’m not at that point where I even consider that being an option,” he said. “One of the best feelings I have in my life is completing a song or project. And by the way those things are painful as well. A lot of nerves, a lot of confidence wavering. But I feel like I’m reaching a new level of fun. I’ve reached a new level of comfortability where I want to try things. Like this last album, I put out something I wanted to do to challenge myself.”

In reference to the mixed reception to his surprise album Honestly, Nevermind earlier this year, which he later addressed by saying, “It’s all good if you don’t get it yet,” Drake said that he wanted to challenge himself creatively.
