Drake becomes first rapper to have three songs debut in Top 3 of Billboard Hot 100

Drake made Billboard Hot 100 history in becoming the first rapper to have his three new songs take the chart’s top three spots.

With his latest album Scary Hours 2, Drake sees all three of the songs currently released on the album occupy No.1, No.2 and No.3 places respectively. “Whats Next” is leading the way, “Wants and Needs” featuring Lil Baby is behind whilst “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” with Rick Ross takes third spot.

This isn’t the first time the Toronto rapper has written new records with the most top 10 hits in the history of Billboard in 2020. In the same year, Drake had the highest amount of Hot 100 entries ever with a whopping 231 entries.

Since then, it’s likely that this tally has grown thanks to the release of the new Scary Hours instalment. Only Ariana Grande in 2019, and the Beatles in 1964 have achieved the same feat.

Drizzy was due to release his highly anticipated sixth studio album Certified Lover Boy in January 2021. However, because of Drake’s injured knee, the announcement date has been delayed. Speaking on OVO Sound Radio, the artist is still tweaking ideas for the album which is “currently being chef’d in every way possible”, teasing at collaborating again with the likes of Noel Cadastre and Noah “40” Shebib.
