The former US president announced on his Truth Social social media account that he anticipates being arrested on Tuesday in connection with the Stormy Daniels case. If an indictment is brought by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, he urged his supporters to protest. The only time a former president has been brought into custody by law enforcement would be if he is really arrested. He would also be the first U.S. president (while in office or subsequently) to ever face criminal charges. (Interesting fact: In 1872, while operating a horse-drawn carriage, President Ulysses S. Grant was pulled up for speeding.)

Trump called the attorney’s office “corrupt and highly political” in his message. Referring to himself, Trump wrote, “leading Republican candidate and former president of the United States will be arrested on Tuesday of next week.”

“Protest, take our nation back,” he continued.

Based on his interactions with adult film star Stormy Daniels, Trump may be prosecuted. The Manhattan district attorney’s office has been looking into Trump for more than a year because of claims that the former reality TV star gave Daniels $130,000 in hush money before the 2016 presidential election. During that time, rumors about the two allegedly having an affair surfaced. Trump has refuted the allegations.

In relation to possible security measures for Trump’s arrest, city, state, and federal law enforcement have been meeting for the past week, according to a report from CNN on Friday.

A witness is scheduled to give a grand jury testimony on Monday. Whether this witness will be the last to testify before decisions on whether to charge Trump come up for a vote are still being made.
