Doctor Strange 2 Crosses $450 Million at Global Box Office

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has finally arrived in theaters, and to to one’s surprise, this epic superhero sequel has made a fortune in its debut weekend. Multiverse of Madness has grossed $185 million in the United States and $265 million internationally, totaling $450 million globally.

Multiverse of Madness is now the second-largest international opening in the pandemic period, after only Spider-Man: No Way Home. It also surpassed Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and No Way Home as the fourth best grossing MCU opening weekend of all time. Not only that, but the sequel also had the sixth-largest worldwide opening weekend in history.

Multiverse of Madness is presently available in 49 countries, with Korea earning $30 million, the United Kingdom $24.7 million, Mexico $21.5 million, Brazil $16.3 million, India $12.7 million, Australia $12.6 million, and Germany $12 million as the best grossing territories. The global figure is even more amazing when you consider that Doctor Strange 2 did not debut in Russia or China, two of the MCU’s most important regions. That might come back to hurt the picture in the future, but Marvel fans should be cheering right now. Finally, if you need more reason to be impressed, the original Doctor Strange grossed $85 million in its first weekend in the United States. This sequel made that and more in its opening day with $90 million.
