DISNEY+ RELEASES FIRST OBI-WAN KENOBI TEASER TRAILER

The long wait of Star Wars fans to get their first real look at the new ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ limited series to stream on Disney+ this spring is over.

Ewan McGregor, who played Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi in “Star Wars: The Revenge of the Sith,” will reprise his role in the series, which picks up after the events of “Star Wars: The Revenge of the Sith” and follows the Jedi after the fall of the Republic and before the events of “Star Wars: A New Hope,” the 1975 film that began it all.

Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm, and McGregor initially announced the series in August of this year. Since then, the franchise has produced very little material. That changed on Wednesday, when StarWars.com released the first official teaser trailer, along with several promotional images from the series.

In addition to McGregor the teaser shows the return of Joel Edgerton as Owen Lars as well. The series is directed by Deborah Chow.

According to the synopsis posted on StarWars.com:

“Since being forced into hiding after Order 66, Kenobi has been lying low, down and out on Tatooine, dealing with the trauma of the annihilation of many in the Jedi Order and losing his faith after his friend and former student, Anakin, fell to the darkness and helped give rise to the Empire.”

Hayden Christianson is returning as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, although there’s no sign of him in the trailer. But the video does give a glimpse of The Grand Inquisitor, Jedi hunters that first appeared in the animated series “Star Wars Rebels.”

The series begins streaming on Disney+ on May 25.
