Despite a home draw, Paris Saint-Germain crowned French champions

Despite a 1-1 home draw against Lens, who played with a 10-man team for at least 30 minutes, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) became the 2022 French top-tier Ligue 1 Uber Eats champions on Saturday.

When Kevin Danso made a sliding challenge and fouled PSG’s Brazilian sensation Neymar, Lens were reduced to ten men on the pitch at the Parc des Princes Stadium.

Danso was sent off in minute 57 in Paris after receiving his second yellow card.

PSG took the lead in the 68th minute when Lionel Messi of Argentina scored a beautiful goal from outside the box.

Lens, on the other hand, did not give up and equalized in the 88th minute to demoralize PSG. After a low cross from Deiver Machado, Lens forward Corentin Jean slipped in to finish in the six-yard box.

PSG is certain to win the Ligue 1 title after accumulating 78 points in 34 games.

Olympique Marseille is in second position with 62 points after 33 games.

On May 21, the French league will come to a close after four weeks.

After the match, Paris Saint-Germain players and spectators in the stadium celebrated their league victory.

Messi’s first French league title with PSG came in the summer of 2021, after the 34-year-old departed his boyhood club Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG won their 10th French title, tying a record. Saint-Etienne has also won 10 French league titles, the most recent of which was in 1981.

In 1986, 1994, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2020, Paris Saint-Germain won the Ligue 1 title.
