Dean Smith has been named as the next manager of Norwich City

Dean Smith’s appointment as Norwich City’s new manager has been confirmed.

Smith agreed to a two-and-a-half-year contract to take over at Carrow Road from Daniel Farke.

Smith was fired by Aston Villa just a few weeks ago.

On Monday morning, the city issued a statement on its website confirming the news.

“It’s been a whirlwind seven days,” Smith said of his appointment on City’s official website. “But I’m really pleased to be back and working for Norwich City in the Premier League.”

“Clearly, there has been some wonderful work that has gone into this football club over the last four and a half years. It is now the job of myself and Craig to continue and improve on that work with the ultimate aim of surviving in the Premier League.

“Norwich City is a big club, with a massive hardcore of supporters who are fully understanding in what it means to be part of the club and its community.”

From Tuesday, Smith is expected to meet with the rest of the team.

Southampton’s visit to Carrow Road this Saturday will be his debut game in charge.
