Deadly blizzard leaves more than 60 dead across US

Numerous people have died as a result of the catastrophic blizzard that blasted through Buffalo, New York, and thousands of more still don’t have electricity in their homes.

At least 62 fatal weather-related occurrences, according to NBC News. Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown stated that the storm was “probably worse than anything that this city has seen in over 50 years” during an appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe.

The death toll in Buffalo has increased to 28, as victims have been found in cars and under snowbanks as of Tuesday afternoon.

“We need people to continue to stay patient, stay off the roads today, and as soon as we can, we will lift the driving ban in the city of Buffalo,” Brown added.

Over 4,000 locals are without power as a result of the record snowstorm. Around 20,000 people were without electricity at the height of the storm.

In the meantime, numerous companies have lost power, rendering their security systems useless, according to Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gragmalia, who claimed that looting is “still going on.” There have been four arrests so far.

“This isn’t people stealing food and medicine and diapers,” Gragmalia said. “They’re destroying stores. They’re stealing televisions, couches, whatever else they can get their hands on. They’re opportunists.”
