David Lynch, a veteran filmmaker, has joined the cast of Steven Spielberg’s next film “The Fabelmans.”

The picture will be Lynch and Spielberg’s debut collaboration, and they are both regarded as among the greatest Hollywood directors of all time for their numerous critical and economic successes.

According to Variety, Lynch, who directed “Mulholland Drive,” “Eraserhead,” “Blue Velvet,” “The Straight Story,” “Lost Highway,” and the TV series “Twin Peaks,” will star Michelle Williams, Seth Rogen, Paul Dano, Julia Butters, and newcomer Gabriel LaBelle in the film.

The 76-year-old director has appeared in a number of TV episodes and films, including his own series “Twin Peaks,” in which he portrayed Gordon Cole.

“The Fablemans,” which is partially based on Spielberg’s experiences as a youngster in Arizona, is presently in post-production. Dano is portraying a role based on Steven Spielberg’s father, with Williams portraying his mother and Rogen portraying his uncle. Judd Hirsch, Sam Rechner, Oakes Fegley, Chloe East, Julia Butters, Jeannie Berlin, Robin Bartlett, Jonathan Hadary, and Isabelle Kusman are among the cast members.

Tony Kushner, Spielberg’s usual partner on films like “Lincoln” and “West Side Story,” co-wrote the script with him.

They are also producers on the picture, alongside Kristie Macosko Krieger, with Amblin Partners backing. Universal is set to release the film in November.
