Damien Chazelle, an Oscar-winning director, has returned with the trailer for his upcoming film Babylon.
Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, and Diego Calva star in the Paramount Pictures movie, which will be released in theaters on December 25. Tobey Maguire, Jovan Adepo, Li Jun Li, and Jean Smart round out the ensemble cast.
According to an official synopsis, Babylon is set in 1920s Los Angeles. “A tale of outsized ambition and outrageous excess, it traces the rise and fall of multiple characters during an era of unbridled decadence and depravity in early Hollywood.”
“It’s written in the stars: I am a star,” Robbie says in the trailer. “If I had money, I would only spend it on things that were fun, you know? Not boring things like taxes. I just want for everyone to party forever.”
After 2018’s First Man, which starred Ryan Gosling, Babylon is Chazelle’s first movie. Before that, the director’s 2014 film Whiplash and his 2016 Oscar-winning musical La La Land propelled him into the public eye.
