A trespasser was shot at the controversial rapper DaBaby’s Troutman, North Carolina residence on Wednesday evening. DaBaby was at home at the time, according to local news, and police officers suspect he was involved. According to TMZ, DaBaby was the one who fired the trigger.
DaBaby allegedly exchanged words with the intruder before shooting him in the leg, according to law enforcement officials. He immediately contacted 911, and at about 7:45 p.m., cops came. According to reports, the rapper cooperated with authorities, and no arrests have been made. The trespasser was brought to the hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.
Chief Josh Watson of the Troutman Police Department described the incident as a “isolated incident” that posed no future threat to the community. He went on to say that the intruder didn’t live in the region and wasn’t a visitor of DaBaby or any of the other neighboring residents.
“No Trespassing” and “We Have Guns and Shovels” signs are posted on DaBaby’s property, which is enclosed by a concrete wall. While Watson declined to comment on an ongoing inquiry, he did hint that DaBaby would be unlikely to face charges. “They’re entitled to their right to secure their property and make sure nobody comes in,” he added, just like any other property owner.
This is not DaBaby’s first violent altercation this year. In February, he and his associates assaulted his ex-girlfriend’s brother in a bowling alley brawl.
In a harsh speech at Rolling Loud Miam last year, he lashed down at LGBT people. He eventually apologized to GLAAD and HIV/AIDS groups, but he ghosted them despite indicating that this was the start of a lengthier dialogue.
